Hello!! I’m so excited about this impulsive crochet along!! Thank you so much for joining me.
I decided to treat myself to some new yarn because I wanted to make my shawl from aran weight yarn and I didn’t have much in my stash so I popped along to my local Hobbycraft! I went for natural colours in a really soft yarn, but couldn’t resist a bit of twinkle too!! I’ve also ordered some yarn for a second shawl from Lovecrafts but I’ll show you that when it arrives!
Remember, you can use any yarn weight and colours from your stash for this project, just use the hook size you would normally use for that yarn weight.
So today we will be making a start on the shawl. I’ll have written instructions, photos and videos available on the blog and you can also catch instructions on facebook or instagram.
Here’s a short written guide, photos and video to follow:
ch4, sl st to 1st ch to make a ring
Row 1 ch4, make 1tr in the ring, make (ch1, 1tr) x 3 in the ring (you will have 5 stitches, including the ch4), stitch mark the 3rd of these trebles
Row 2 ch4, turn, make 1tr in stitch at base of ch4, ch1, skip ch sp, make (1tr in next stitch, ch1, skip ch sp) all the way along to marked stitch, in marked stitch make 1tr, then (ch1, 1tr) x 2, move sm into 2nd of these 3 posts, work back along to ch3 making (ch1, skip ch sp, 1tr in stitch), ch1, in 3rd of ch3 make (1tr, ch1, 1tr)
Rows 3-10 repeat for 2
You can choose to make more than 10 rows of these repeats if you would like to!
